In light of proper nutrition, babies' lives changes, their physical and mental growth improves and their health is maintained while there is also a sturdy foundation laid for future productivity. UNICEF-1998
Breast-Feeding Proper nutrition ensures the health of babies. All parents wish to have a healthy baby. This wish can be fulfilled through paying heed to infants' nutrition, especially during the first two years of life-an absolutely sensitive age. Breast milk is the best food for infants and babies. It is much more than just a great food, it is rather medicine. Breast-feeding ensures good health throughout the rest of life.
Supplement Food Breast milk generally suffices for healthy growth till the age of 4-6 months. However, after this age it cannot provide the energy, protein and other essential requirements. Therefore, supplement food comes to play a vital role in order to prevent malnutrition. Slow growth and sudden reduction of weight are indications of the malfunction of muscular and adipose tissues which in itself hint at malnutrition. Adequate growth is only ensured through proper nutrition. Moreover, the various nutrition needs of babies vary as they grow. According to nutritionists, infants and babies should be first given semi-solid foods, also known as 'foods other than breast milk', as supplement. It is quite essential that babies become familiar with this food at a time when they get to explore and inquire about the environmental, social and economic aspects of life. Mamana, due to its rich composition, is a perfect all-purpose supplement food.
